Turbo Energy allies with Chilean utility Saesa to boost smart storage systems

  • The agreement with Saesa, a leading electricity company in southern Chile and one of the country’s main distributors, will allow the Spanish company to continue growing in the region with its intelligent solar energy storage solutions.
  • The two companies have completed their first joint project with the implementation of a battery intelligent storage system (BESS) at the main plant of Bayas del Sur, a leading producer and marketer of berries in southern Chile.
  • The system implemented by Turbo Energy complements the photovoltaic installations of Bayas del Sur with a 200 kW and 880 kWh battery system, capable of optimizing energy consumption and using clean energy at peak demand times.

The Spanish technology company Turbo Energy has signed an agreement with Saesa, the leading electricity company in southern Chile and one of the country’s main distributors, to promote the implementation of smart energy storage systems in the region. This alliance strengthens the company’s expansion plans in the Andean country with its smart solar energy storage and management solutions.

The collaboration between the two companies has already led to the implementation of an intelligent battery storage system (BESS) at the main plant of Bayas del Sur, a leading company in the production and marketing of berries in southern Chile. This solution, designed to optimize the company’s existing photovoltaic installations, integrates a network of 200 kW lithium batteries with a capacity of 880 kWh, which will cover the consumption of the entire production plant and enable it to switch from the use of fuel to the use of clean energy during peak periods and isolate the factory from the grid.

“At Saesa Innova we marked a new milestone in our energy conversion plan with the installation of a BESS system for the company Bayas del Sur. This energy storage solution represents the first concrete step towards the decarbonization of the diesel systems that our industrial customers currently have, whether for energy backup or peak shaving. With this project, we are moving towards a more efficient, sustainable operation that is aligned with the challenges of the energy transition that we have outlined as a company,” explains Camila Trujillo, Saesa Innova’s Energy Manager.

“The entry into operation of this project for Bayas del Sur is a reflection of a trend that will continue to grow among companies in all sectors: the search for solutions that ensure a stable and sustainable flow of energy, capable of containing the instability of energy market prices. In this sense, being able to work with a leading electricity company such as Saesa is a guarantee to tackle this type of project and will allow us to continue implementing intelligent energy storage systems in the leading companies in Chile, with all that this means for the economic decarbonization of the region”, explains Mariano Soria, CEO of Turbo Energy.

The agreement and first project between Turbo Energy and Saesa took place less than a month after the Spanish company’s arrival in Chile, with the installation of the first smart storage system in Latin America at the Alto Labranza shopping center. This milestone was also the starting signal for the company’s new division, Turbo Energy Solutions, specially designed to offer photovoltaic energy generation, storage and intelligent management solutions to the Latin American commercial and industrial sector.

Turbo Energy is the company specialized in smart solar energy management and storage solutions integrated in Umbrella Global Energy, a Spanish multinational focused on solar energy, energy technology and electro mobility. Umbrella is listed on BME Growth since 2022 and is present in key markets in Europe, North America and South America.
