Antonio Miranda, Director General for Energy and Mines, visits the project to see first-hand its progress in integrating photovoltaic generation, energy storage and intelligent energy management.
Vila-real, October 6, 2026 – Pamesa Grupo Empresarial and Umbrella Global Energy today presented the latest progress in bringing Pamesa Net Zero into operation, the industrial energy platform developed to integrate photovoltaic generation, energy storage and intelligent energy management across the ceramic group’s production facilities.
Three project sites — ECO Porcelánico, Compacglass and TAU Porcelánico — are currently operational with 14 MWp of new photovoltaic generation and 62.5 MWh of energy storage, managed through an intelligent energy management system developed specifically to meet the Group’s operational requirements.
This new capacity is in addition to the 20 MWp of photovoltaic generation already installed by Pamesa, bringing the total photovoltaic capacity currently operational across its facilities to 34 MWp.
The first systems brought online are already enabling the coordinated management of generation, storage and industrial consumption. Since entering operation, they have avoided 421 metric tons of CO₂, providing the first measured results from an infrastructure designed to enhance efficiency, energy management and the decarbonization of industrial operations.
These first operational assets represent the initial phase of the Pamesa Net Zero deployment, which will continue to progressively incorporate additional capacity until reaching the project’s planned 80.56 MWp of new photovoltaic generation and 366.84 MWh of energy storage.
From execution to operation
Bringing the first facilities into operation represents a new milestone in the development of Pamesa Net Zero.
Following an initial phase focused on infrastructure deployment, the project is now beginning to bring the energy model designed for Pamesa into real operating conditions and to generate its first performance indicators.
Umbrella Global Energy, through IM2 Energía Solar, is the energy partner responsible for the design and integration of the platform. Storage and energy management technology is incorporated into the project through Turbo Energy, an Umbrella subsidiary.
The progressive addition of new capacity will allow this model to be extended to other Group facilities, adapting it to the different generation and consumption profiles of each production site.
Given its scale and configuration, Pamesa Net Zero represents a large-scale integration of photovoltaic generation, energy storage and intelligent energy management within an energy-intensive industrial environment, bringing into real-world operation an energy model designed to meet the needs of large industrial consumers.
Energy infrastructure serving industry
The progress of Pamesa Net Zero was presented during a visit by Antonio Miranda, Director General for Energy and Mines, to Pamesa Grupo Empresarial’s facilities.
During the visit, representatives from Pamesa and Umbrella Global Energy presented the first operational installations and the technology architecture used to monitor and manage their energy performance, integrating data on photovoltaic production, industrial consumption and the status of the storage systems within a self-consumption model.
This management capability is a central component of Pamesa Net Zero. Beyond incorporating new renewable generation and energy storage, the project enables generation, batteries and consumption to be coordinated according to the energy requirements of each facility, optimizing the use of the different assets within the production process.
Energy and industrial competitiveness
During the meeting, Pamesa Grupo Empresarial, Umbrella Global Energy and the Directorate General for Energy and Mines also discussed the role that energy storage and intelligent energy management can play in the transformation of energy-intensive industry, as well as the challenges associated with integrating these technologies for large energy consumers.
For Pamesa, the project is part of a long-term strategy aimed at making energy management an increasingly integrated capability within its industrial operations, with an impact on the efficiency, planning and competitiveness of its activities.
Fernando Roig, Chairman of Pamesa Grupo Empresarial, said:
“Energy is becoming an increasingly strategic variable for industry. With Pamesa Net Zero, we are building an infrastructure that will give us greater management and planning capabilities over an essential part of our production activity. It is a long-term commitment to Pamesa’s competitiveness and to advancing the decarbonization of our industrial operations.”
Enrique Selva, CEO of Umbrella Global Energy, added:
“We are moving from talking about the energy transition to seeing it operate within industry. Photovoltaics, energy storage and technology are no longer independent elements and are beginning to operate as a single infrastructure serving the factory. Pamesa Net Zero is starting to demonstrate, through real data, that better energy management has a direct impact on industrial competitiveness.”
